I'll be joining the instructor crew over at VidChatUniversity and offering online music training - not just piano lessons but also keyboard setup, synth operation, and how to play keyboards in a guitar-driven praise band without being bored (or sounding boring!).
It's a pretty cool concept! I'm looking forward to making this work.

Give 5 tracking set 1
Pictures taken while Miguel "no relationship to the dictator" Castro recorded the drums and percussion tracks. It was quite a bit of percussion magic, if I do say so myself!
MIXTURE is Joey Stuckey's new album, currently in production. Give 5 is indeed in 5, and is a nod to the famous Dave Brubeck tune (a particular favorite of mine). We are recording the album at Joey's studio Shadowsound Studios.
Miguel is playing a Rebolo and a Casa Vallenata here, Brazilian instruments.

Tom Rule News for Sept 21, 2011
Thought I'd interrupt an odd Wednesday with a couple of tidbits:
1) Joey Stuckey & I are almost done tracking MIXTURE - we're discussing whether to write another tune for the album, or to let it be. We also have to add drums to one more tracks, and my wife Pam Rule will be coming in to add some tasty scat singing to one track.....then it's on to the mixdowns!
2) I'll be playing with the Cloud 9 Orchestra the weekend before Thanksgiving up at Camp Winshape (a.k.a The Chik-fil-a retreat center @ Berry College in Rome, GA). We are playing for the Doctrinal Studies Bible Church 2011 Marriage Conference. We'll be giving a full concert on Saturday November 19th, plus playing for the sessions and other assorted things.
These are an incredible group of guys - headed up by Scooter Ward - who do Big Band style in a contemporary worship setting. It's gonna be cool - especially since I'll be playing a baby grand AND my Roland RD700sx keyboard at the same time. Lotsa fun!
If you've ever heard Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, you've got an idea of what Cloud 9 sounds like......in fact, at least one member of the MHO will be joining us in Rome.

We are also in discussions with a remix artist - but more news on that later!

We'll See - first listen after drum tracking
Miguel "no relation to the dictator" Castro had just laid down some tasty drum tracks on "We'll See", a track from Joey Stuckey's new album MIXTURE.
Here we are listening to the rough mix, checking the drums to make sure everything was working well.
MIXTURE is being recorded at Shadowsound Studios in Macon, GA (http://www.shadowsoundstudio.com).
All original tunes written by Joey Stuckey (http://www.joeystuckey.com) and Tom Rule (http:/www.tomrule.info)

Recording "We'll See" on Joey Stuckey's new album MIXTURE
Here are some pix taken while we were tracking the solo lead line on We'll See - a tune on Joey Stuckey's new album MIXTURE.
The effects setup Joey used. It's going to be interesting mixing it.
We used a Vintech Audio preamp that just sounded awesome.
Here I am setting up the effects loop under the console - complete with
an inadvertent rock-n-roll hand sign!

Miscellaneous MIXTURE pix
Some miscellaneous pictures shot while tracking for Joey Stuckey's new album MIXTURE, being recorded at Shadowsound Studios.
Joey checking the board during tracking.
Closeups of one of the effects units used during Joey's solo on We'll See.
A closeup of the to-do list for the album
I find it a bit ironic that I was wearing this shirt while we were tracking with Miguel.
