Just Posted - new piano solo music

I've placed FOUR newly composed and recorded solo piano tracks on Last.Fm, in an album called "Almost Real".

2 are uptempo, and the other 2 are kinda peaceful and serene [mostly].

Friday July 22: Paragons, Book signing and Jazz

I'll be playing for a Book signing by Cliff Chandler, who just published The Paragons - a fascinating New York murder mystery. The audiobook was recorded and produced over at ShadowSound studios.

This Friday will be a Wine & Cheese & Piano Jazz evening to celebrate publication and to have a book signing. The book and audiobook will (of course!) be available for purchase.

Come on down to New Town Macon's place at 479 Cherry Street on Friday, July 22 from 5 - 8 pm.

Mixture: drum session

Saturday July 16 Miguel not-related-to-the-dictator Castro laid down some sweet drums to the tune "Too Pooped to Bop".

Tom and Joey listening as Miguel does his tracking.
Notice Tom's "I don't care if I'm hip or not" sandals.

"OK, what do you think?"
"I dunno, what do YOU think?"

The fabulous Miguel not-related-to-the-dictator Castro at work.....well, at least waiting for Joey to punch the record button!
Trivia tidbit: Notice the picture hanging on the wall in the upper right corner? That's a shot of the Phoenix window from the old Capricorn studios in Macon - where Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers recorded.....and Tom's old band tom&co recorded their first album Brethren.
Mixture is being recorded at Shadowsound Studios
Pictures taken by Joey's wife Jennifer.
Mixture will be released by Senate Records whenever we get it done.

Mixture - album update

I just finished the initial work on the final tune in the current set - "Windows Down". This has been fun, sitting in the MaconOuthouse studio and vamping & revamping arrangmeents and sounds and tracks, but I'm really ready to get into Shadowsound with Joey and add some more people to these tunes, especially Joey's tasty guitar work.

Saturday we're hoping to get several percussion sets done with the fabulous Miguel not-related-to-the-dictator Castro.

...and the journey continues!

Mixture: jazz CD with Joey Stuckey - latest news

The latest news: we've cut several of the first tracks for Mixture, including DotDotDot, We'll See, Fall, plus some others.

The process has been interesting. I'm working on the arrangements and initial tracks in The Outhouse [my project studio, where I'm using PreSonus' Studio One Artist DAW, plus Mackie's Tracktion on occasion] - then transferring them via ftp over to ShadowSound studios. Joey is starting to add the guitar parts while I play mouse jockey and audio editor for him.

Saturday, we track some hand percussion with the awesome Miguel no-relation-to-the-dictator Castro.

More news later!

Studio News, New music and charts at MacmusicGuy.com

1) Been working this week at Shadowsound studios on a new jazz album with Joey Stuckey. This is gonna be good, if I do say so myself and shouldn't!

Lots of tasty guitar and [of course!] plenty of keyboard backup, as well as the usual assortment of ear candy. We've got several very talented sidemen lined up - I'm excited about putting this thing together!

We've been writing for over a year now - it's nice to start hearing these tunes with my ears instead of just inside my head!

Later this year the charts and sheet music will be available online for purchase - keep watching this space for the news!

2) I've also posted some new music over at MacMusicGuy.com - there are some Tuba/Baritone [or Trombone] duets that I wrote for a tuba student of mine a few years ago, plus some mp3s of original stuff and some new pieces that are great for teaching piano.

One of the more original things is a series of pieces I'm calling "One Handed Trios" . These are written to be flexible - a very Renaissance state of mind! - and can be played by 2 OR three people at the keyboard (or pretty much any C instrument, for that matter.) They were written this past year for some class piano students, and worked pretty well. The packages include mp3s of the tracks in various combinations, so that no matter which line you are working on, you can have your mp3 player playing the other tracks along with you.
